Its always a super exciting for me when a client is up for trying out a new location! I love being able to offer a few tried and true spots, but its a fun adventure to head somewhere new and Brasada Ranch Did. not. disappoint! I have a few specific traits I look for when I’m scouting photography session locations; how far from town are they, whats the scenery like, whats the accessibility like, and how’s the lighting situation. Here are a few of my favorite traits of the Brasada Ranch photography location.
1. They have a neat old wooden bridge
mountain views are great, and kind of expected in the Central Oregon area; but if you ask me, this bridge is a show stopper. We went down underneath and found some diffused light by the pond, then we hopped up on top and enjoyed the view from there.
2. Offers diffused light most times of the day
I am definitely fine tuning my ability to get great shots in all lighting situations, but its so awesome to find a spot that has a little bit of guaranteed diffused lighting. This spot is great because there is a beautiful tree that offers some shade most of the afternoon on top of the bridge. We also went underneath the bridge which doubled as awesome framing for the shots as well as a little bit of extra diffused light.
3. Excellent parking and decent accessibility
This location has a gravel parking lot just a few feet from the bridge. I like to suggest spots like this for my maternity clients so that they don’t have to go for a long walk to get where we’re going. The walk to the under side of the bridge is very easy to get to. climbing the walkway to the top of the bridge is a little more tiring but, its a path and not stairs so definitely accessible for most strollers and wheel chairs.
4. Centrally located for Bend Oregon & Redmond Oregon clients
The Central Oregon area is a bit spread out so I like to find a few locations in each town from Bend to Sisters to Redmond to Tumalo. What I loved about this spot is its located about 20 minutes from both Redmond and Bend, Oregon. While it’s not my number one priority, I like to limit drive time as much as possible for myself and my clients.
