If you had told Brandice and I fifteen years ago that in 2023 we would each be living on property less than five miles away from each other in our hometown of Redmond, Oregon… We may have believed you but we would have been shocked to be so lucky. If you had told me that I would get to be her Family Photographer and capture their sweet life as a family of three? My mind would be BLOWN. But lets step back in time a bit and I’ll explain how I came to the day that I got to shoot Brandice’s Family Session at her ranch in Redmond, Oregon.
We met on our bus route when I was arguably barely bigger than my back pack. Brandice was two years older than me and therefore walked on water as far as I was concerned. So when she took to sitting next to me on the bus when I was a measly middle school student I was stunned! We grew up in the community of Tumalo, Oregon; recognized by its tiny town and community school surrounded by hay fields and horses and the Deschutes River. We both rode horses in 4-H and eventually in high school together.
Not only did our big red mares tie us together; but they were also the avenue through which Brandice met her Husband Ransom. Ransom was our coaches son; and his little brother, became one of my dearest friends. So although we met on a simple daily bus ride; Brandice and I were tied together as friends by a handful of different strings of a beautiful childhood. We spent years on the rodeo trail with our amazing dads, shared the difficulty of making decisions like giving up sports for ponies, all the way to deciding what careers we would follow and how many kiddos we would have.
Childhood friend turned Redmond Oregon Photographer
Fast forward to the modern day! We both attended Oregon State University a few years apart and made it back to our sweet home town of Redmond, Oregon. When my husband and I found our 5 acre piece of land on the North East outskirt of town, I was flabbergasted to find that Brandice and Ransom live on their Bad Horse Ranch just down the road.
We didn’t always stay in touch but true friendship transcends that kind of time; I could tell when Brandice was pregnant with her son Buckson because she messaged me out of the blue, curious about the strain of a full time job and breastfeeding a baby. When we need each other we’re here and what a gift that is.
Now as life keeps rearranging; and I’ve started my business as a Redmond Oregon Photographer, I’m so blessed that one of my favorite clients is one of my oldest friends! head over to my instagram to see more of Brandice & Ransoms Gallery!
