This sweet mama reminds me every session why I came home to start my family photography business.
You see, Kenndra and I weren’t necessarily friends growing up. But we grew up together in a sense. We both grew up in Central Oregon; spending summers at the local rodeos and barrel races, enjoying all the bonuses of small town living. We found ourselves on opposing ends of the local High School rivalry each spring at the Equestrian team meets. And here we are now; raising four girls between the two of us back in the place we got to grow up! Me in Redmond, Oregon and her right down the road in Sisters, Oregon. Literally the coolest full circle “growing up in a small town” thing I’ve ever experienced!
This was our second session together and I was stoked that Kenndra had a new spot for it in mind. I spend a good chunk of my off season researching and developing new locations to offer my clients, but Its soooo cool when they have their own special spot that holds meaning for their family. This was the little meadow in Sisters, Oregon that Kenndra and Andrew had their engagement photos. Here they are a few years later with two beautiful girls!
Something so special I am seeing in these first few years in my family photography business is how many families come back multiple years in a row! as a kid I remember getting family photos taken a grand total of ONE time. (no judgement Mema!) I’m sure some of it is due to our greater ability to share these sweet babies & the improvement in photography technology. BUT, I know a lot of it is due to the sweet refocusing on the importance and specialness (is that a word??) of FAMILY! Despite the stresses us millennials have faced in our adult years; we’re out here making and capturing memories with our growing babes and I am HERE FOR IT!
